Adding a new device

Adding a new Device to an existing SRDF Group

Disable consisteny in the Device Group: symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 disable

Set the mode to Adaptive Copy Disk (Background): symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 set mode acp_disk

Create a file with the new R1 and R2. This command will initiate the establish, but will not add the luns to the device group: symrdf -file APPR01_newfile -sid 111 -rdfg 3 -type rdf1 -establish createpair

Add the new device to the SE Device Group: symld -g srdf_APPR01 add dev 0350 -sid 111

Set the mode to Adaptive Copy Disk (Background) again to ensure the newly added devices are set to the correct mode: symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 set mode acp_disk

Run a query to ensure that the device has been added and that the establish is running: symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 query

When establishing is nearing completion change the mode back to async: symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 set mode async

Once fully established, the group needs to be enabled for consistency: symrdf -g srdf_APPR01 enable

Export the newly updated device groups: symdg -g srdf_APPR01 -f srdf_newneo01

Complete the procedure by updating the device groups on the Target (R2) site:

The RDF2 device group should already exist on the remote servers. Add in the new R2 device as follows: symld -sid 111 -g srdf_orneop01 add dev nnn
